What is a micro-credential?
Non-credit micro-credentials showcase a student’s learning, skills and achievements and validate knowledge through assessment to make participants more marketable to employers.
Digital badge
Upon completion of a micro-credential, participants receive a digital badge - a web-based image that provides verification of completion. Students can share these badges online, add them to a digital portfolio or LinkedIn and link them in a resume. Participants will be emailed access to their digital badge upon course completion.

- Student employment
This micro-credential helps students reflect on the skills developed through student employment. Students complete six modules related to their work experience, including topics like time management, teamwork and communication. Modules consist of videos, interactive assignments and reflective activities. Supervisor involvement is needed for one assignment.
- Leadership
This micro-credential helps students reflect on leadership skills developed through campus involvement, student organizations or supervisory roles. Students complete six modules related to their leadership experience, including topics like ethical decision-making, accountability and team dynamics. Modules consist of videos, interactive assignments and reflective activities. Students also participate in a leadership coaching session with the Hargis Leadership Institute.
- Study abroad
This micro-credential helps students reflect on the skills and perspectives they gain through studying abroad. Students complete four modules related to their time abroad, including topics like intercultural communication, adaptability and global citizenship. Modules consist of videos, interactive assignments and reflective activities. Students also attend a career coaching appointment to connect their study abroad experience to future career goals. *This best serves students participating in short term experiences.
- Competitive learning
This micro-credential helps students reflect on the skills they develop through participation in competitive activities. Throughout four modules, students explore the impact teamwork, discipline, resilience and leadership has on their growth. Modules consist of videos, interactive assignments and reflective activities. Students also attend a career coaching appointment to connect their competitive learning experience to their career goals.
- Internships
This micro-credential supports students in identifying and reflecting on the professional skills they gain through internship experiences. Students complete six focused modules that explore topics such as workplace communication, goal setting and professional development. Each module includes videos, assignments and reflective activities designed to help students connect their internship experience to their career aspirations.
