What kind of position are you interested in?
Part-time
- Jobs and internships that fall under this category often give an employee a glimpse of the responsibilities of a full-time position but do not require a 40-hour work week.
- Many employers recruit on-campus for these positions in September.
- Career Services hosts an annual Part-Time and Volunteer Job Fair each fall semester.
Federal Work-Study
- Work-study positions help students with financial needs, allowing them to earn money without impacting financial aid options.
- Most on-campus jobs can be filled by Federal Work-Study recipients.
- Each student must apply and be approved to receive a work-study option.
Internship
- The purpose involves meaningful, career-related work that goes beyond the classroom.
- The goal is to provide intentional learning in line with academic and career goals.
- These may apply toward class credits, make sure to check with your academic advisor.
- OSU Career Services only supports paid internships in our Interview & Job Portal.
Full-time entry level
- Full-time entry level positions are the beginning of a recent graduate’s career experience. Typically, in line with the candidate’s field of study, these roles are often characterized by a learning curve as recent graduates apply academic knowledge to real-world scenarios.
- These roles serve as a foundation for career growth and often involve training, mentorship and opportunities to build a professional network.
Full-time experienced
- Job requirements for experienced roles generally indicate a desire for a proven track record of success in similar roles and the ability to contribute to the organization's objectives immediately.
- Relevant experience, specialized skills and education play a role in employers decisions.
- Candidates should think broadly about leveraging their career and life experiences while exploring entry-level or experienced positions.
Graduate assistantship
- Graduate assistantships can be either teaching assistants or research assistants.
- These positions are often found through networking with professors and faculty.
- Many opportunities can reduce educational expenses through scholarships, national fellowships or other funding opportunities.
